Terms
This page says who is behind ChatExport, what the free trial includes, and on what terms the licence is sold. The buying sections describe how the sale works, so the rules can be read before you pay. Every purchase comes with 30 days to ask for the money back.
Who is who
This website is run, and the ChatExport licence is granted, by Bokart Krzysztof Kowalski, Konstancińska 3A lok. 62, 02-942 Warszawa, Poland, tax ID (NIP) 5213411818, e-mail support@getchatexport.com. "We" on this page is that business.
The seller is Paddle, acting as merchant of record: Paddle.com Inc. for buyers in the United States, Paddle.com (Canada) Ltd. in Canada, and Paddle.com Market Limited of London for everyone else. Buying therefore means two agreements: a contract of sale with Paddle, under Paddle's own checkout terms, and a licence agreement with us. Paddle processes the payment and issues the sales document, including a VAT invoice for companies. We never see your card details.
This website
The site describes the program, publishes guides on the blog and offers sample exports to download without giving an e-mail address. It needs no account. The guides, court-related ones included, are information rather than legal advice. Technical interruptions can happen, and they cost you nothing: the program does not need this site, or the internet, to work.
The program, and what it honestly cannot do
ChatExport is a Windows application installed locally. It reads an iPhone backup already on your computer, and the chat files WhatsApp itself exports, and turns a chosen conversation into a PDF, TXT, HTML or CSV file, with a SHA256 checksum saved next to every export.
- It needs Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and, for iPhone messages, a backup made with Apple's own software. Backups from iOS 11 through iOS 26 are supported.
- It exports what the backup contains. Messages that are not in the backup cannot be recovered by any software; "recently deleted" ones are readable only while the backup still holds them (iOS 16 and later, typically up to 30 days after deletion).
- Content that lives only in iCloud is out of reach.
- An encrypted backup opens only with your password. We cannot recover or bypass it.
- There is no macOS version, and a future iOS version may require a program update.
The price, and the trial that comes first
The licence costs 34.99 USD, once, tax included: the amount in the checkout is the final amount, charged in your own currency. The download is a free trial of the whole program, with a watermark on exported pages and exports capped at the 50 most recent messages. The pricing page has the details.
Delivery
After Paddle confirms the payment, the licence key goes to the e-mail address from the order, usually within a few minutes and no later than 24 hours. The key carries the buyer's name and e-mail address and is checked by the program itself, on your computer, with no activation server. No e-mail: check spam, then write to support@getchatexport.com.
Changing your mind
Consumers in the EU and the UK can withdraw from a digital content purchase within 14 days, unless they agree in the checkout to immediate delivery and acknowledge losing that right; Paddle's checkout collects that consent. Elsewhere no statutory period may exist. In practice it barely matters here, because of the next section.
30 days, money back
Every purchase, from every country, comes with 30 days to return it: no reason to give, full refund, executed by Paddle to the payment method you used. An e-mail to support@getchatexport.com from the address used at purchase is enough. The guarantee is a contractual right on top of your statutory ones, never instead of them.
If something does not work
We are responsible for the program conforming to what these pages say, under the digital content rules that protect you where you live (in the UK, the Consumer Rights Act 2015). If it does not conform, you can have it brought into conformity, and failing that claim a price reduction or your money back. Write to support@getchatexport.com; we answer within 14 days. Complaints about payments, charges and invoices go to Paddle, whose contact details are in the purchase confirmation.
Disagreements
Consumers can use the free out-of-court bodies available in their own country. The EU's online dispute resolution platform was shut down in July 2025, which is why this page does not link to it. Nothing here forces arbitration and nothing takes away your right to go to court.
Data, law, changes
How data is handled on this site, in the program and at purchase is on the privacy page. These terms are governed by Polish law; if you buy as a consumer you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim before your own courts. A purchase is governed by the version of this page in force on the day you buy, and the date at the top changes when the page does.
