Everything on this page is a real export, written by the program itself from an invented conversation. None of it is anyone’s real messages. Nothing here asks for an email address or an account: you click a file and it opens in whatever you normally use. If you open only one, make it the Court View PDF, which is the one most people end up filing.

See what comes out before you download anything

These are real exports, made by the program, from a conversation we invented for the purpose: a separated parent collecting what was said about money and weekends. Open them, search them, print one.

The conversation those files were exported from, open in ChatExport. On 6 March he writes "I will send it when I can", and the next message is about what it said an hour earlier.
The export options: "Recover deleted messages" and "Show edit history", both switched on
And these are the two switches that put the earlier wording and the deleted message into the document. Both are off by default, because both widen what gets read out of the backup.

What to look for

  • Page 1 states the participants, the message count, the date range and the time zone.
  • On 6 March the father writes "I will send it when I can". The document also prints what that message said before he edited it, which was an admission of three months of arrears and a figure.
  • On 27 May a message is recorded as unsent by its sender. The words are gone, the fact that something was sent and withdrawn is not.
  • The last message of 5 June was deleted from the phone. It is in the document, labelled with the date it was deleted.

Every name, number and message in these files is fictional. The bank confirmation, the school note and the receipt are drawings, not documents.

These files are generated again whenever the export layout changes, so what you open here is what the current build of ChatExport produces. They are not a fixed set of documents kept from an older release.
